the cover of the new yorker - from an iphone // 5.25.2009

this is incredible. the cover of june 1st's new yorker was painted by Jorge Colombo on an iphone. my favorite quote is from the art editor of the magazine saying “All too often the technology is directed in only one direction, which is to make things more tight, and this, what he did very well, is use this technology for something that is free flowing, and I think that’s what makes it so poetic and magical.” i couldn't agree more. however, its sort of strange to me, as beautiful as this image is...i feel like we're on the cusp of things completely changing. that print, an "archaic" medium that some people say is being completely phased out could be infiltrated in such a way by a completely new technology...is something notable.
