it always suprises me that the contestants in eating contests are as thin as they are. anyway, 

this 4th of july was the annual nathan's hotdog eating contest at coney island in brooklyn. 

i watched it for the first time in all of my 22 years...and im so glad i did. i witnessed history.

this year joey chesnut held his title as hot dog eating champion by beating takeru kobayashi. after they both ate exactly 59 hotdogs in ten minutes, the tie breaker was to then eat five more. literally even thinking about that makes me a little nauseous. this was the first time since the contest started in 1918 that there has been a tie. so im glad i watched, but i certainly won't be looking at a hot dog the same way for (at least) a couple months.

ps. anyone notice kobayashi's mustard and ketchup hair? i bet he did that on purpose.
